Endless Space 2 gameplay – the first 40 turns as the Sophons

Amplitude’s new 4X is coming to Steam Early Access in September. We got an early look and captured the beginnings of a campaign as the peaceful Sophons. We took them to war, anyway.

Thats one boring battle

Captain Casey says:

It would be great if the person playing actually knew how to play Endless Space.

Sellyei says:

The graphic is much better. But I hope it will be a better game then the first one.
I liked the first one, but I wasnt digging it too much.
I bought it about 1 year after it came out on Steam and when I was playing, there were still bugs in the game.
Research tree could have been a bit better and more diverse for each faction.
Some quests were good but mostly I had difficult quests right from the strat where I was no even close completing them with a not too developed empire. I hope the quests will have more depth to them and be more meaningful.
Managing planets was good. It had some nicks but I enjoeyed that a lot.
Yeah…and the battles. SOOOOOOO Boring as hell. I now its an 4X game but I hated it I could change strategy during the fight. Looks like its coming back once again which puts me off. The battle intros are way too long.
I hope the AI will be better too. In a lot of cases for, their actions or reactions toward me were unreasonable.
I will wait for reviews before buying. And Im curious how much will they charge for it.

Again the cinematic combat? AGAIN?

Xel says:

Feeling bored !

Michael Aries says:

We really need a game where you combine deep strategy layer with huge fleet management… if Creative Assembly managed to do something similar in 2004 (RTW), why we can’t have it in 2017? Having like 10 units in the combat gets boring pretty quickly…

llamaloka says:

WTF IS THIS BULLSHIT SPREE of doing things all automated ? where is the old fashion real time battles of imperium galactica 2 or master of orion , WHAT IN THE HELL IS THIS BULLSHIT ? if i wanted to whatch a SI FI movie i just go and watch star wars not this crapy automated game

Magni56 says:

I love the Sophon intro. The first to accidentally blow up their own moon. The Kerbals would be proud. Though I’m not sure wether to be more disturbed that they fucked up *that* hard, or about the implication that *they weren’t the only ones to do so*.

Joseph Marsh says:

noooooot a big fan of the music so far… Stellaris sounds much better. I do think the intro narrator was an awesome touch though. Also I’ve always hated that draw mechanic in endless space 1 and I’m sad to see they brought it back in 2. its like, in what world would an admiral be like “Well you hurt us. We hurt you. lest call it a draw… Bygones!”

undeny says:

I was really enjoying Master of Orion.. But then the game stopped saving or loading games 🙁

Godless Channel says:

i loved to play with the pops/eco/tech/colonization etc.
BUT the combat was horrible especially in later game when 10-20 or more fights happened in each round sometimes only because a single ship and you just cant skip the round until you deal with theese and pick the 3 card/each fight just NO… i fuckin lost my sanity there xD

so what a beautiful piece of shit is this and why still turn based?

Lajos Csóka says:

Menu in the beginning:

Just like Tiberium Wars. 😀

John Doe says:

Looks totally underwhelming.

madtrade says:

it feel so lifeless :/

Kelan Elam says:

The video could have used some narration.

Nipponisms says:

Time to experiment with these types of games..

Corerupt83 says:

For me to buy the 2nd game they will need to change how combat works. As like the first one its just shit. Looks and sounds good but i dont want to sit there and watch it play out. i want to take control..

Max Power says:

MFPirates? Does that stand for “Mother Fucking Pirates?”

Vik G says:

Why is he so slow?

endless menus

DX_Kidjal says:

Cool music & ambient yoo…

Kǒito_ says:

Can’t wait!

Alan James says:

Would a Nvidia 485m run this game properly?

ashbery76 says:

EndlessLegends is one of the best 4x game ever so very much looking forward to this.

Jovian999 says:

Ahh that soundtrack

Will Parker says:

I wonder if I’m alone in finding the use of “race” instead of “species” incredibly annoying…

Haakon Gaarder says:

8:05 It’s very odd to see a space combat end in a draw just like that. There should be a very good reason. Both sides ran out of ammo at the exact same time? A temporary truce?

Johnson0964 says:

Me: ooo this looks good!
Announcer Guy: “Coming to Early Access….”
Me: F**K!

SomeGuy says:

I like how you don’t talk during gameplay all time, like stupid letsplayers that think people watch them only becuase they talk too much.

dragon0085 says:

Are humans going to be in this?
The first game was ok, but combat was SO stupid, plus you got blocked in starlanes really easy.

Kroposman 230 says:

Sophon: Kerbals analogue.

Earthworm Jim says:

Those space battles look glorious! Can’t wait to play this, and thanks for making the ground combat cool as well.

blackbeard00 says:

So bummed that Horatio is probably not going to be a playable race. Best concept for a 4x race ever.

ViperAleks says:

This game looks a bit boring to compare with the Master of Orion game. Especially the combat screen where you see the ships approaching again and again in each combat without ability to skip animation or change ship maneuver during battle.

Richard Wentford says:

This this and a new EL DLC coming out, I better get more EL games in.

r4plez says:

Again lame combat

Reclaimer says:

Early access? FUCK

kaczan3 says:

They’re really pushing that “female leadership” hard. I miss the times when games were about playing, not shoving real-life politics down our throats.

Kyle Rybski says:

God, that combat is glorious.

bayes yoyoyo says:

This game looks so amazing. A propoer game focusing mostly(or entierly) on the big abstract choices without all the out of scope micromanagement(except heroes and the academy, but who doesnt love those guys aynway). Looks to me like this is right up my ally. I cannot wait to play this is early accsess!

Jerick Allado says:

So this is a 4x turn based game that turns to RTS when you assault someone and or someone assaults you? basically turn basically space total war

Benjin P says:

Eh, I’m still not a fan of those space battles – they’re almost exactly the same from the first game. I remember them being totally boring as they were uninvolving and short – I would always just auto-resolve them after the first few viewings. They did look really pretty, though.

Kahn Jimmy says:

looks simple, but beautiful. really feels like being in space.

Mal says:

Really looking forward to this one! Looks very slick.

Matthew Huckabey says:

Thank you for doing this. Itt’s given me a good idea what this game consists of. From the looks of it this game doesn’t hold a candle to stellaris. From the looks of it, the combat aspects in this title are dull, nearly nonexistent. it looks like a numbers battle with no room for creative thinking in a combat situation. Cinematic battle scenes don’t hold up to repeated viewing. Camera work is sloppy for a system that has to rely on a cinematic experience to make up for a complete lack of battle mechanics.

StringStorm ‌ says:

I do hope there’s more political and personal relations with the leaders involved. Like, you could woo the dragon lady and stuff, alliances formed through active resources trade, etc.
