Ashes Of Creation Show Action Combat Gameplay! – My Thoughts

Ashes Of Creation has recently showed gameplay footage of their first pass of the game’s action combat system that’s been in development for about 2 months as of making this video, AoC will eventually feature a combat system that has elements of both Tab Targeting and Action combat, players will be able to choose skills that fit either combat type to eventually lean one way or the other depending on their preference.
A good combat system is what many people believe will be the biggest factor for the game’s success, personally I’m quite impressed with what they’ve shown for a first attempt and I’m looking forward to trying it out in around a months time in the AoC Alpha 1, Phase 1 that’s expected to be playable to backers on the third week of September.

—Ashes Of Creation Description—

Breathe life into the Ashes Of Creation
Set out on a fallen world untouched by civilisation for thousands of years, our players will: rebuilt, repopulate and rediscover, cities will rise and fall, their fates determined through force and power, this is something you’ve never experienced before, a completely unique world that never stops changing.

Ashes of Creation is a unique take on the MMO experience. Our world structure is dynamic and built to react to the actions of our players. Cities will rise and fall, their populations based on the history of the world as the players create it. Quests will unlock as these populations gather, their needs grow, and secrets are unlocked.
As the world’s NPC structure is established in real time, players will have the ability to destroy what they’ve created, paving the way for new development, new populations, and real change. Political strife and intrigue will play a very real role in the structure of your world.
Gone are the days of static worlds, change is here to stay.

Players will have the ability to survey and develop land anywhere in the world. Be a pioneer deep in the wilderness, build the home of your dreams, and work the land to cultivate resources and supplies. Alternatively, stick with civilization and safety in numbers – purchase a home within the confines of a village and watch your investment grow as that village turns into a city.
Homeowners in our game will have the ability to develop their plot of land as they see fit. Focus on farming, animal husbandry, or own your very own smithy. You’ll be able to specialize your land to maximize your profits or your comfort – be sure to choose wisely.

Questing in our world combines the best elements of traditional MMO’s as well as the introduction of our unique player driven experiences. Ashes of Creation offers area quests, public quests, and quest chains that change dynamically and in real time based on the player’s experiences and choices.
Players will have the ability to directly alter world events and change the landscape through their actions, as an individual and as a community. Server quests will allow political rivals to compete for the fate of the world.

Throughout Ashes of Creation, the player has an opportunity to participate in massively multiplayer siege warfare. Since castles are likely the world’s most limited resource, it will be a task to secure and hold them. Involving hundreds of players on a single battlefield, our sieges will employ many moving parts and intricate design features.

Ashes Of Creation Show Action Combat Gameplay! – My Thoughts

Jonathan Zhang says:

Still not bdo I guess

Blake Carr says:

So when is this coming out

neonicon says:

lol the combat is going to be fucking everyone playing this ranged class/spec and the game will be like fortnite with melee being raped.. terrible idea

Travis Goodspeed says:

All these new games we’ve been waiting so long for are going to be effing terrible…

Conner Emberton says:

this is literally the combat of RUST with a teleport and an aoe fire spell it looks like. This isn’t the combat of an MMO. maybe a BR or a survival game at best.

Supervillain says:

looks shite m8

VAMPHYR3 says:

Animations/movement feels so fucking unnatural. Almost robotic…

fede mona says:

3:01 no. too many neon lights and explosions, they jump like rabbits, shake the camera too much, run around like crazy kids… that’s just bad

Synthorax says:

If a game is good, people will play it (any genre), if it is bad, it dies. Its that simple.

Blandi Blue says:

Huge hit box, make it smaller for god sakes

Suad Salkic says:

Didn’t really hype me up at all. Basically what I saw was stab, stab. stab. Nothing explosive or exciting.

Zig says:

I’m so hype for this game I need an mmorpg and all the current ones are shit

Emmanuel A says:

It would be really nice if they could somehow get the help of Platinum Games when it comes to the combat.

Mateusz Sidoruk says:

In my opinion this game looks good, I’ll deffo give this a try as I’m propper gassed for it!!!!1!!11!!!

Tony Jasmine says:

if they just started on this I don’t think its to bad…the animations do need to be smaller are camera further out imo….and some kind of hit box showing…the armor look is really bad looking imo…the mage blink looks good the light attack with the staff looks awfull…I think they should have some animation coming out of it not actually trying to hit them with the staff lol…the sword charge look is cool looking

RawLu says:

the game Looks Horrible IMO.

Arden Devani says:

Those animations look like arthritis

probablyanotherfun says:

this seems super slow and clunky

Micah Mahaffey says:

this looks like a terrible ESO… No thanks

Nikola Balevic says:

From what they have described about the game system and what they have shown gameplay wise it looks amazing and unique.Regarding the game system if it works out its gonna be a whole new way of MMORPG gameplay that’s the one thing im looking forward the most because the old game system (or the classic)has gotten rly old…

Synaris says:

The animations are kinda a dealbreaker for me.
Don’t like the idea of your upper body being able to turn around 180° while your lower body just stands still.

Txu Zai says:

jank as hell

Alejandro Vivanco says:

Combat looks shit looks like eso combat but a different game

Search For Truth says:

this looks amazing.if anyone doesnt like it theyre free not to play it.they can play moba wow.also i like that you cant see very good with large aoe spell a fantasy world that magic would have existed this is how it would work

Panda Plebs says:

One thing that I’ve seen is hit boxes could be a bit better

Dream says:

2 Months however is very impressive.

Lord Crimsiden says:

ppl comparing alpha 0 to fully released games lmao. Anyway imo the combat is looking good so far, cant wait for this games release.

bobby moore says:

This could work. I don’t like to see casters jumping and dodging as effectively as rogues or hunters but that can be cleaned up. It should be spells instead of acrobatics that makes them harder to hit and tank classes should have higher hp and armor and be somewhere in between casters and rogues at movement.

Esteban Hughell says:

Those spell effects are a bit absurd gonna make mass pvp a rainbow of effects. But honestly I would prefer a slower more weighty combat maybe with directional strikes.

Giorgos Kalamidas says:

B O R I N G, next one please.

Jacob Perez says:

Warframe + Hentai = Ashes of Creation

J0kuc says:

Question: Can you zoom out if you want a more classic mmo camera?

Nickm01 says:

Why is everyone bashing this? This action combat is not only pre-alpha but they rolled it out in 2 months? 2 months you get that? That’s pretty good for 2 months. Release is before 2020, so lets say December 2019. If they brought that out in 2 months what would they be able to do with 14 months? Peoples reaction make it sound like it’s a released game and that’s what everyone is going to be playing haha. As if nothing is going to change in 14 months? I don’t get the hate. Does it have room for improvement? Certainly….good thing it’s still got 14+ months to go before release!

Smatchimo says:

looks clunky as fuck. like a DayZ MMO

Marius Kverneng says:

Cant we get bdo’s combat and graphics with the content of games like wow and no p2w shit is that too much to ask for? The game looks ok but has a looong way to go combat wise you can see its more tab target focused in the movements etc.

Mikael Persbrandt says:

looks like shit

jamrollz says:

Very stiff posture and very dry animations. It looks like no one has their centre of gravity shift even when they’re running and jumping around.

Needs to take cues from Black desert imo

Do Bo says:

IF the story line is shit it want matter how it looks

Steven Nguyen says:

Why is the game so expensive to play?? even for a few months it is expensive

CJ B says:

I dont like it. I like lock on action combat like zelda. Damn i was really hoping they would implement that.

Edit: I do like the range combat better than the mellee but still, zelda combat is optimal for melee combat. That should be standard in this industry

Axo says:

Reminds me of Nosgoth for some reason.

Elkethus says:

it look pretty awesome

mush90able says:

I like it, seems fun and if they keep improving it I will try it out , although I dont enjoy the constant “fireworks”, some games give to all attacks TOO much colour and brightness, its kind of confusing and anticlimactic, hope they reduce that a bit ^^. Good work!

SmallDick StoleYourGirl says:

meezermox1 says:

this looks bad

Gotred says:

The combat just looks really janky. Running with legs turned sideways while the torso and arms swing a weapon forward looks incredibly awkward. There’s no weight behind that moves or attacks. Remind me of skyrim, where I always preferred magic or archery over melee.

manuel wegeling says:

They will add tab targeting though..

Ralgore says:

Yaaay…another seizure inducing “EHRMAHGERD” spamming crapfest with ADHD gameplay…and I had such high hopes for this game =/

York Hunt says:

Looks really boring.
Oblivion-tier swing and no reaction.
