About Ostriv:
Ostriv aims to raise the bar of city-building experience by adding a huge amount of possibilities and removing annoying limitations. It allows for truly organic town layouts without grid and angle restrictions on a three-dimensional landscape. The goal is to make player’s creations to become alive and believable communities where real-life problems would arise, thus making late game a new challenge rather than a repetitive chore.

You can watch the development of this masterpiece from afar on Facebook and Twitter or you can join by purchasing an alpha and help by providing your awesome (or, even better, awful) feedback!

The current alpha contains 26 basic buildings, 3 maps, advanced farming with crop rotation and ploughing, organic dirt roads modeling, dynamically changing seasons, basic trading by land and some other things you would expect from a city-building game.

A lot of things are yet to be done. Check out the current roadmap to see what’s planned to add before Ostriv would become a finished game.

Can you explain the food amount? Just what amount does 12.7 Sunflower mean?

Jim Castor says:

cowshed needs water near it also for the cows.

Dogtrain 1234 says:

Calve

James Tingley says:

Cowlets? I think you mean calves. Regards James

mun150 says:

Glad to see new video! You should allow milk to be sold at the market stand.

Jim Castor says:

no hay in the store holder, only drier.

beezer3410 says:

Lovin the series!    erm what graphics card  are you using?

Mike Lewis says:

Your jerky movements make it hard for me to watch your vids. Great game though!

OhShuh says:

Info: trees are protected ! Select very tree you plant and switch it to remover. Or you got at the at the end of the Day a protectet forest. 8-()

Ganto TV says:

I want new update XD

Asheer says:

If I’m not mistaken (but could be wrong too so it would be good to check this) if for example woodcutter will turn idle at his primary job (because demand for wood is minimal) he sort of automatic become a “worker” and do the jobs around village until will be recalled back to his workstation.
So he keep his original job and *payment for it* but still helps to finish other duties.

But like I said, this need to be actually checked, because it’s looks like that here in “Ostriv” no job means no money coming from it for the families… and that might pretty badly backfired in less expected moment.

Max Nijhuis says:

this is the first vid i watch of this game of you. i like it but it looks allot like banished.

Killermkl says:

One thing: the architecture isn’t only in Ukraine. It’s an eastern european architecture. I live in Romania and it’s perfectly the same. Don’t believe me? Check it yourself. Like Maramures region. IT’S THE SAME. Same in Poland. And other slavic nations. Even in Bulgaria. Please see this.

Hooch says:

Looks like families run out of money as they are not employed at an actual job, e.g. woodcutters or granary. Or they get paid very little or nothing even to be labourers. Seems either the husband or wife needs a steady income. Every time they get ‘fired’ to be re deployed as labourers the loose the income.
Great game so far though, will definitely be getting it on release.

Simon Ewers says:

Yes you can “convert” a bull into an Ox by castrating them 😉

JB says:

Another great vid Katherine!! Have the devs or anyone you talked to mentioned how long the cows live? I ask because I would like to slaughter and get the meat before they die, but not slaughter before I need to.

Dogtrain 1234 says:

Or calf

Reverend Maillet-Crutcher says:

Managing the people’s unemployment is a lot different than regular city building. You have to have constant sources of jobs for them which means don’t shut down jobs.

Simon Knibbs says:

Watching @ 15:16 : Maybe it is time soon to build the second windmill?

Holy Fuzzy Cat says:

Ostriv actually means Island in Ukrainian :), i guess its the point of the name for this game.

Oh, nevermind, just checked out the second episode, and there was a guy who already said that xD

Luis Jalabert says:

i lov this series!

kevnar says:

I don’t like how trading works in this game. It costs you $90 to send a messenger to another town, and you only make $120 selling 12 units of goods. So you went to all that trouble just for $30, which decays away anyway in the time it takes you to send the goods over there. Not really worth the trouble at all, unless that closest village is demanding a good you have a huge amount of. Those prices are going to need some tweaking.

caphalor08 says:

Your guess is right, though the more industrial sized ones could have horses to do the turning.

DutchDuke says:

reminder…tree’s you place are automatically “Protected” meaning the woodcutter don’t cut them down unless you check that box off.
I also recommend you click on that box called “Resource supply” like on the hay barrack, that way you tell your ppl how to supply that building, by hand or carts for example.

Jim Castor says:

cowshed needs water near it also for the cows. you still don’t have water near cowshed.

caphalor08 says:

Baby cowlet 😀

redd Greene Blue says:

Really enjoying your thoughtful presentation.
Subscribed.

William Callaway says:

Surprisingly enough you play youtube like all the rest. You just lost two cows and an OX because you are playing the game at too high a speed and not paying attention. Also you fire and hire people at will, leaving you with a massive unemployment problem, because people don’t know where they belong. Slow the game down to normal speed and pay attention to what you are doing. Because of the accelerated speed you are waisting time and money. Slow down, for we are here with plenty of time to watch. Allow us also time to enjoy the game.

Axel Banzter says:

Long Episode yay;D #saveoni

HighDef says:
