About Ostriv:
Ostriv aims to raise the bar of city-building experience by adding a huge amount of possibilities and removing annoying limitations. It allows for truly organic town layouts without grid and angle restrictions on a three-dimensional landscape. The goal is to make player’s creations to become alive and believable communities where real-life problems would arise, thus making late game a new challenge rather than a repetitive chore.

You can watch the development of this masterpiece from afar on Facebook and Twitter or you can join by purchasing an alpha and help by providing your awesome (or, even better, awful) feedback!

The current alpha contains 26 basic buildings, 3 maps, advanced farming with crop rotation and ploughing, organic dirt roads modeling, dynamically changing seasons, basic trading by land and some other things you would expect from a city-building game.

A lot of things are yet to be done. Check out the current roadmap to see what’s planned to add before Ostriv would become a finished game.

Do you need more carts as your village grows? and also spots so they have free carts to use?

Jim Castor says:

which field are you going to leave fallow for your new cow sheds.

Yunfei81 says:

‘The tale of the sunflower people’ 😀

That game is awesome. I love when devs try to simulate reality eg. when you have to let your fields rest to regain the fertility of the soil.

Jaaa Beee says:

Another great video Katherine! With regards to your frustration micromanaging the laborers, I feel your pain!! What I did was reduce all my farm field sizes to 15. I have 6 fields for each farm, and I leave 2 fields fallow each year. The smaller fields allow the workers to finish plowing and planting very early in spring. This allows the fields to “grow” more. I’ve never counted the # of crops harvested, but it would seem that the yield is higher. And all crops are harvested and in the barn by the end or November, latest. This way I don’t have to count of laborers to get my crops in. Thanks again! 🙂

Jim Castor says:

Give your people a “raise”, you are selling their shoes right off their feet to support yourself your “Highness”. LOL, just kidding. By the way, you get all the money back anyway.

OriginalLictre says:

I did find it interesting that when you were setting up the crop rotation on the fields of your fourth farm, you had said that you were going to stop allocating to grow hemp, then set it into the rotation of the new fields. With the lack of things to do with hemp that can create income, you’re currently way over-producing it, so all it’s currently going to do is eat up man-hours of labor to grow, harvest and transport, as well as take up storage space that could be better used by sunflowers or edible crops.

Etienne Reynaud says:

I’m pretty sure that you’ve desactivate those 2 fields because of your labourers’ difficulties to work.
Very good idea to build a farm nearest houses !
There is no well nor market on the island.
Nice videos ! 😀

moonlight the he alpha wolf says:

Anyone hear her voice like she a robotic thing

Henrik Nykvist says:

Is there risk that old cows and bulls die from age?

Axel Banzter says:

where is mashinsky?

Jim Castor says:

one boat house only has 2 workers and the other one has 5 workes, need to divide them up a little better.

Hindering Gaming says:

I can confirm that if you let the crops stay unharvested when winter hits they are struck by the vanishing bug that eats all of your crops.
Harvested but not collected crops can be picked up all the way through winter.

Daje LP says:

It´s back!

I´m soooo happy 😉
Thx Katherine 😀

Jim Castor says:

love this game but do understand we have done all there is so far. by the way, GOOD GOING ON THIS VILLAGE.

lars kristensen says:

if you click on people it shows if theyre educated or not.. only educated people can be workers .. rest is labours.
also i noticed when making houses if making them small as possible they finish faster.. maybe theyre suited for labours and building dragged to max size is more expensive and for workers..

also who say you only need to have 1 town ?
you can make small villages and maybe it even free up more people because they then use carts and haul more on each run.

Simon Knibbs says:

2:30 Agree, I feel we need the ability to set job vacancies by month so that they can focus on harvest or stop fishing when needed. Do you think people working at a market might actually get paid less when reducing the product cost?

Rupertbear says:

You didn’t activate the 4th new field you made 🙂
